‘we belong to a poetry club’ presenta la ricerca e le opere di Beyond Beyond e Davide Meneghello.

Beyond Beyond è un duo artistico fondato da Giulia Astesani (n.1987) e Roshana Rubin-Mayhew (n.1987). La loro ricerca esplora, con un approccio collaborativo e multidisciplinare, temi quali utopie, interconnessioni e femminismi, sfruttando il concetto di queering come metodologia per ripensare e agire oltre lo stato attuale delle cose. Il lavoro di Beyond Beyond esiste e si sviluppa attraverso diverse piattaforme, da installazioni d’arte a workshops ed eventi queer dove vengono proposti ed immaginati possibili e diversi mondi e modi di essere. Attraverso il loro processo artistico esplorano e supportano una molteplicità di prospettive e voci che cercano di destabilizzare le ideologie e i valori dominanti nella nostra cultura.

Il lavoro di Davide Meneghello (n.1991) usa fotografia, testi e installazioni come spazio per indagare significati e idee legati alla rappresentazione di genere, la storia queer e la costruzione del discorso omosessuale. Altri temi ricorrenti nella sua pratica sono le narrative storiche, i sistemi di rappresentazione e le pratiche d'archivio. Componente fondamentale del suo lavoro è l’impiego di processi fisici e materici come strumenti per giungere a risultati concettuali.

‘we belong to a poetry club’ presents the work of Beyond Beyond and Davide Meneghello.

Beyond Beyond are cross-disciplinary artist duo Giulia Astesani (b.1987) and Roshana Rubin-Mayhew (b.1987). Their work explores queering as a methodology to revision and action beyond the current state of things. Often collaborative in approach, they propagate a multiplicity of otherwise perspectives that seek to destabilise the hegemony that has formed the foundations of our present mainstream thinking and cultures. From art installations to workshops, lecturing to queer parties, Beyond Beyond’s work could be understood as polymorphous platforms of desire, or portals, to other possible worlds and ways of being.

Davide Meneghello’s (b.1991) work uses photography, slide, text and installation as a space to investigate meaning and ideas concerned with gender representation, queer history and the construction of the homosexual discourse. Other recurrent themes in his practice are historical narratives, systems of representation and archival practices. A fundamental component to his making is the employment of physical and material processes as tools for conceptual outcomes.
